Starting February 23, PST will no longer be collected from British Columbia residents who purchase a used battery-electric vehicle! This is great news for those looking to purchase a used electric vehicle! ⚡️⚡️
In addition to being environmentally friendly, a big reason many purchase an EV is to take advantage of the cost savings. This move by the Government of BC to not charge PST on pre-owned electric cars further helps consumers save that hard-earned money and to make the entry into electric vehicle ownership that much easier!
Please note there are is a bit of fine print to exactly what used electric vehicles qualify for this incentive.
The government defines “used” as a vehicle that has been driven over 6,000 km – so as long as the used EV you’re consider purchasing has more kilometers than that you will be saving the PST!
This exemption is currently valid for the next 5 years.
